Thus saith the Lord, What iniquity have your fathers found in me, that they are gone far from me, and have walked after vanity, and are become vain? (Jeremiah 2:5)

The above verse speaks about the agony of GOD. Our GOD loves us and his love will be agonised each time we run away from him. Our separation from him is our God’s agony.

Each time I read this verse, my eyes drop tears. The birth of his agony is our separation from him. We always become tears in the eyes of God rather than being his joy. There cannot be any iniquity found in our God. He is a righteous one and all that which flows from him is righteousness. His love is abundant and his love is righteous. We go to our God for our external benefits but our God expects us to be with him and to be in him. In a process of fulfilling our external benefits, we have become his internal agony.

What made you to go far from me ? says our LORD. We think we are alright with God and our relationship with him is at highest degree but did we ever question ourselves, ‘Am I a joy or agony unto God ?’. We need to be nearer to him to be his internal joy.

He is a Love sick God. He loves to attract us towards him to shed his love into our hearts. To an extent, where he sent his only begotten son (LORD JESUS) and offered him as ransom for all of us.

Let us make a room to our God, Let us offer our selves to him. We are his and we belong to him and let us become his joy. May the Holy Spirit shed his love into our hearts to become lovers of JESUS.
